What was it that motivated Chris Gardner, a salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his five-year-old son, to keep going? Was it really The Pursuit of Happyness as the movie title suggests?

What is it that motivates you, and me?  Money? Happiness? Health? The American Dream? The Kingdom of God? Souls? Heaven? How do you stay motivated? What is it that keeps your dream alive?

Motivation certainly is not doing what you want or doing what’s right when you feel good. Real motivation comes from deep, deep within, and it is not an emotion. Your passion fuels your motivation. And it is your passion that must be strong, so strong that even the lack of money won’t deter you.  That’s because the passion must be sustained by a vision. I call this transformational motivation: motivation that is sustained by a vision which is fueled by passion.

The Feel Good Moment

As editor, this has certainly been true for me, for it has never been “the feel good moment” I can depend on, nor the beaucoup dollars that have fallen from the heavens just when I needed them. Instead, it has been my vision to see people healthy and fit physically, mentally and spiritually. I have believed always that the individual is stronger when all three areas of their existence is aligned with God. This belief has motivated me over the years.

But is motivation that simple. Of course not . . .

Once you have discovered what’s hacking your motivation, Dr. Marie Carroll offers you some advice on how to get back your motivation.

What about your posture? Does your posture affect your motivational level? Or food? Does the food you eat affect how you position yourself and, therefore, your motivational level?
