Spiritual-Secrets-to-a-Healthy-HeartHeart disease continues to be the # 1 killer for both men and women in the United States despite the gains made in science or the medical profession. We have been told to lose weight because obesity is one of the risk factors. We have been told to stop smoking because smoking is a risk factor. We have been told to eat more fruits and vegetables and less foods with saturated fat to offset this disease. Yet, we continue to struggle. Obesity is still a medical concern. In fact, it is classified now as a disease. Smoking still remains a difficult habit to break. Healthy food options continue to be poor choices of the elect. What is it that we’re missing?

Dr. Kara Davis reveals what she thinks is the missing link in Spiritual Secrets of the Heart. There are spiritual secrets of the heart that cannot be addressed physiologically. Issues concerning our bodies are connected to our soul–the very entity of who we are. It is in the soul where emotions are processed.  It is in the soul where thoughts are seeded and nurtured. If the issues of life are not managed correctly there, then our bodies do not manage them either, resulting in dis-ease and, perhaps, even death.

As a medical doctor Dr. Kara makes a convincing case between body, mind and spirit. Her background is unique because she is also the wife of a pastor. Though she thinks like a medical doctor, she also thinks like the Apostle Paul, admonishing believers to live a life that honors God in their bodies–their sanctuaries, as well.

However, we never forget that Dr. Kara is a medical doctor, so her approach to certain illnesses such as depression, does not deviate from the medical traditional approach. For the natural practitioner this may be disappointing, but her book is still worth reading for anyone who is interested in making not just a body-mind connection but also body-mind-spirit.

For readers who are believers, in particular, this awareness is important to the health of the church and the healing of the body of Christ.
