The Connection between Heart Disease and our body’s need for inner peace is as real as the ground you and I walk on.

Dr. Kara Davis is a board certified medically trained physician. Dr. Davis has a special interest in the connection between mental, emotional and spiritual well-being with physical disease.  She is a firm believer in the importance of health preservation through lifestyle modification, particularly the role of diet and exercise in disease prevention.  She has done research in the area of obesity in African-American women, and in lowering the risk for type 2 diabetes in minority populations. She is the author of Spiritual Secrets to Weight Loss: A 50 Day Renewal of Body, Mind and Spirit and Spiritual Secrets of a Healthy Heart.

In February 2015, we will recognize American Heart month. Heart disease kills an estimated 600,000 Americans each year—that is 1 out of every 4 American. In the United States, the most common type of heart disease is coronary artery disease (CAD), which can lead to a heart attack.

Despite the significant progress society has made in curtailing heart disease, it remains still the leading cause of death for both men and women. That’s because Dr. Kara Davis believes there are risks that are not addressed medically. These risks are connected to our emotional, mental and spiritual health.
