Now that winter is here, you might catch yourself thinking about warmer summer months. Earth’s tilt relative to the Sun is the reason most of us enjoy seasons. As the Earth revolves around the Sun, Earth’s tilt causes the length of day and the directness of sunlight at your location to change. This of course leads to some pretty dramatic seasonal changes. The light that we receive here on Earth is produced at the core of the Sun through hydrogen fusion and takes about 100,000 years to reach the surface of the Sun. The particles of light have many collisions with other particles they must encounter before they can escape the incredibly dense core and other layers of the Sun. Once the light reaches the surface of the Sun, it travels another 93 million miles at the speed of light and warms our planet 8 minutes later. The Lord teaches us to do and experience all things without grumbling as we go through our year. It’s only appropriate that we should enjoy this light in seasons and embrace the changes that we encounter in life.
