healing power of lemon

There are many techniques used today in the never ending pursuit of detoxification. Some people use herbal laxatives, shakes, and even borderline starvation to rid the body of unwanted toxins. I personally believe that it’s best to use food to detox and balance the body.

For years, I have used the almighty lemon to purify and alkalize my body. Every morning, I drink a glass of water containing the juice of 1/2 organic lemon to cleanse my stomach, flush out toxins, stimulate digestive juices, and aid my liver in its cleansing process. You can also drink 1/2 a glass of undiluted lemon juice with all your meals to help your stomach digest food.

Although lemons are acidic and contain a potent level of citric acid, once consumed they become an alkalizing healing power house. If you have a cold that just won’t go away, chances are you are not getting enough Vitamin C.  Fresh squeezed lemon juice is also a good way to naturally supplement vitamin C levels and aid the body in purifying the lymphatic system which is crucial in fighting colds.

I have suffered from a sluggish digestive system most of my adult life. For me, the lemon is a miracle fruit. Since lemons have the ability to stimulate digestive enzymes and cleanse the stomach, I have been able to create a healthier and more efficient digestive track. To maintain the effect, not only do I drink lemon water every morning, I also use freshly squeezed lemon juice on most of the foods I eat.

Here is a great recipe to help keep your digestive system, specifically the liver, in tip-top shape.

Beet and Lemon Juice Salad

1 cup raw organic beets, finely grated or chopped
2 T. cold-pressed, extra virgin organic olive oil
Juice of ½ lemon, organic is best
Whisk the olive oil & lemon juice together & mix with grated beets.
Eat 1-2 T. of this salad every waking hour for two days. After two days, eat 1-2 T. three times per day for the next five days. You may also eat this salad if you get hungry between meals.
