And it’s happened so many times, now you’re approaching burnout. You know this because your health is calling you to pay attention to your body and life in a new way.

And here’s why that’s happening. Our world makes us feel that we never have enough time to live. We only have enough time to work. And work makes us feel we never have enough time to complete the important tasks only the urgent. So, we finance the demands of life with our time. Before we know it, we have buried our true self under the stress and pressures of life, resulting in soulessness.

Our body speaks to us, begging for a new way, but we just don’t have the time, we say, to listen: we’re too busy, too exhausted. We become disconnected, disjointed. We’re moving but never arriving at that place where we feel satisfied. Eventually, sickness—obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, depression, or anxiety—set in. Now you must find a new way to live.

And it begins with time.

You see, you actually do have enough time to have the life you imagine, if you live in life-giving time!

Life begets life.

How do you access this life-giving time, you ask? 

By paying attention to the voice of God’s love deep within your inner being. That is where the wellspring of life is. It is where your transformation begins, and where you regain your full autonomy.

Now is the time to regain your power.

Time is your gift from your Creator. Time is not your master.

Take back your power and redesign your time to give you life, the life you want and deserve.

MY Personal Story

I wish someone had walked alongside me 20 years ago as an accountability partner, a guide and coach to show me a healthier way to live out my career and vocation. Instead, I threw myself completely into my work, chained myself to my desk, and became a workaholic.

I was a high school teacher at the time, and each year I used up all my sick leave, not because I was physically ill but because I was emotionally depleted. I used holidays to catch up on my grading. I turned down weekend get-togethers with friends because I had to stay on top of my work. And church participation, or any activity outside of work, was out of the question. I had no time or space to give myself to anything else. Teaching was my service to God…but it felt more like a life-sentence. Something was amiss. My time was not my own. My life was not my own, until I was introduced to the sport of bodybuilding.

That’s when I broke up with my desk and began a relationship with my body. Yes, in bodybuilding I was training my muscles, but I was also acutely aware of the aliveness I began to feel in every other part of my physical being. I attributed this “aliveness” to God. It was as if the God in me was on steroids. An amazing spring of life flowed within me as I prepared for competitions—an hour in the gym training, then at least 45 minutes posing in front of the mirror at home while reciting Psalm 139:13-14. Posing—contracting my muscles—was not exactly exciting, so I infused the practice with scripture meditations and recitations. I had no idea that not only my body but also my mind was being transformed. My life was changed forever.

Ultimately, I changed my profession, but in retrospect, I didn’t need to. I needed to change my approach to living and my attitude toward my body. Once I started this journey of restoring wholeness to my life and began to experience the results, I wanted to help others find the same.

Preparing for Change : From the Mundane to the Kingdom Mindset

The Kingdom of God is within us and it consists of goodness, joy, and peace. These attributes are essential to our health and wellbeing. In this first module, we will examine how the time experienced and expressed in the Kingdom of God leads to feelings of wellness and a greater sense of wholeness. We will also reflect on our relationship with time through the lens of seven archetypes. In this module, you will discover: –

  • Your archetype you typically use to relate to time. 
  • How to experience timelessness—freedom from clock time. 
  • An understanding of time that ultimately aligns with Eternity.

Time to Work : Reframing Your Relationship with Time and Work

Do we live to work? Or do we work to live?  Whether we love or hate our jobs can lead to feelings of overwhelm or chronic stress if we are predominantly orientated toward work rather than life. The truth of the matter is that living is an art. Finding harmony between work and life is the focus of this module. In this module, you will discover: –

  • The difference between work-life balance and work-life harmony. 
  • How to harmonize your personal and professional life. 
  • How one ancient leader addressed the “work-life” dilemma.

Creating Time: Embodying a Spiritual Understanding of Time

There is a space in time where we can disconnect from the world of consumerism and find rest. You will learn how you can enter this space in time and experience the never-ending love of God that will shift you from stress and overwhelm to freedom and joy on earth. In this module, you will discover:-

  • How to allow your body, including your brain, to relax in timelessness.
  • A new understanding of rest in time  that restores harmony to your life through spiritual practice.
  • How to align the master biological clock, the brain, with the ever present and everlasting love of God.

Joyous Eating: Synchronizing Your Eating with Your Internal Clocks

Most people  generally know what foods to eat to be healthy. That’s why the focus of this module is on understanding the relationship between time (when you eat) and its impact on your health. Because our lives are characterized by stress and busyness, we will also stir in a cup of signature JOY made from the finest ingredients for a unique dish that is made for you. In this module, you will discover:-

  • Why eating at the right  time honors the body and connects you with JOY.
  • How to  synchronize your biological clock with the time of day to experience increased health, including weight loss.
  • Your best times to eat.

Empowering Movements: Resetting Your Internal Clocks with Exercise

Exercise has tremendous health benefits. These benefits can be optimized by your circadian rhythms, which affect every area of your life.  By knowing your personal time of day to exercise you can promote your health and ward off diseases. In this module, you will discover:-

  • How exercise affects your body rhythms.
  • Time principles governing exercise to optimize your health.
  • Meditative movements that will empower you.
  • How you can exercise  to pay yourself first and  honor your body as the temple of God’s love.

Mental Time Travel: From Time Stealers to Life-Giving Time

Most of us  engage in mental time travel when we  ruminate on past events or obsess about the future. Although we have emphasized the importance of the present in this course, you will also explore healthy ways to use the past, present and future, which are crucial for experiencing a life of vitality, joy and freedom. In this module, you will discover:-

  • How to Identify time illusions in your life. 
  • How technology changes your perception of time.
  • How time has shaped your relationships with self, others, and God.
  • Kairos—God-appointed time in the Kingdom—versus Chronos–clock time.

Living in Deep Time: Embracing God’s Transcendental Love and Intimacy

It is in taking time to intentionally connect to God’s love that the body begins to feel safe—to be led rather than driven. It is in this space that the body finds peace, joy and freedom, even in the midst of challenges, and lives fully. In this module, you will discover:-

  • Living on purpose rather than on demand.

About Etta

For 21 years, Etta has been in the health and wellness field. Etta’s passion for health and wellness started when she began competing as a bodybuilder in 2001. Eventually that passion for competing morphed into living a healthy lifestyle, all while being a high school teacher, which she did for 13 years. Etta later became a personal trainer, training and teaching her clients about health and fitness. But the deep desire of Etta’s heart was to see members of the body of Christ enjoy healthy lives not just spiritually but also physically and mentally.

 

In response to this need, she began one of the first faith-based Christian digital magazines called LiveLiving. Etta published the magazine for 7 years before returning to school to pursue a master’s degree in integrative health and wellness coaching.

 

Today, Etta has a private coaching practice and a nonprofit organization called LiveLiving International Foundation, with the vision to help Christians experience kingdom-based healthy living by bridging spirituality and behavioral health through knowledge.

 

Etta is trained at the Maryland University of Integrative Health and Duke Integrative Medicine. She holds a master’s degree in education with emphasis in theater and a master’s degree in Health and Wellness Coaching. She is certified by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching in the United States and is a member of the International Coaching Federation.

 

Etta is the author of The Ten Guiding Lights to Health and Wholeness. Recently, Etta successfully launched the online group-coaching program Journey to Wholism, based on her book.
