The Journey to Wholeness-Living Healthy Physically, Mentally & Spiritually
The Journey to Wholeness is an integrated approach (body, mind and spirit) to health and healing. When we integrate these areas of our being, we have a fuller human experience, for a vision for wholeness and healing must not be limited to abstract psychological theories in order to speak to the real human condition. Unless it is directly correlated with embodied processes, it cannot speak to the real human condition. In this presentation we will explore the embodied nature of love and shame—two of the primary competing forces in the world—through the lens of interpersonal neurobiology.
This program will also examine the Contemplative Developmental Pathway Theory (CDPT) as a model designed to help the individual or community move beyond the rejection, abondonment and humiliation that cause pain and shame to the discovery of the authentic self-based in love, humility, forgiveness, and gratitude. A developmental model, the CDPT postulates that the self follows the step-wise path from the natural self at birth to the shame self and its antithesis, the addictive shame false self, leading to the development of the authentic self and eventually, the contemplative transcendent self.
