The Body is Listening
“What you say can mean life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded” (Proverbs 18:21 New Century Version). The body can hear; it listens and sets out on a path to bring to fruition what it hears when you speak. As a babe knows the voice of its mother, so your body knows your voice.
Science, too, has confirmed that the body listens to its own voice. Research has shown that “vocalizing sounds change the vibration of the body” (Stockdale, Brenda. You Can Beat the Odds, Sentient Publications, 2009). This finding was proven by Dr Gaynor who reports the laboratory results of two breast cancer patients who used their own voice in a technique called toning for three and a half hours a day for one month. In one woman the tumor simply disappeared. In the other, surgeons found the tumor was reduced and completely dry and she made a full recovery (Gaynor, Mitchell. The Healing Power of Sound, Voice, and Music, Shambala Publications, 1999).
Guard your speech carefully. Don’t speak flippantly about your health or about your life for that matter. One day,I heard a cancer advertisement on the televsion that said, “I have cancer, but cancer does not have me”. You can acknowledge a disease, but you do not have to own it. Speak words of life frequently. A paraphrase of Proverbs 18:21 says, “Words kill, words give life; their either poison or fruit—you choose (The Message).
